ECOLOGICAL DIFFERENTIATION OF PINE FORESTS BASED ON CONJUGATED ANALYSIS OF CSR STRATEGIES AND ELLENBERG ECOLOGICAL INDICATOR SCALES

The aim of this study is to assess ecological differentiation of pine forests based on a conjugated analysis of CSR strategies and Ellenberg indicator scales.

Based on geobotanical description data a conjugated analysis of Ellenberg ecological indicator scales and Ramensky–Grime CSR strategies was made. Statistical processing was carried out in the MATLAB environment using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Non-metric Multidimensional Scaling (NMDS). To assess the nature of relationships, linear (Pearson) and polynomial determination were compared.

It was established that community structure is determined by environmental factors by 94.78% (PCA). It was revealed that if nitrogen effect and acidity are linear, moisture and temperature factors exhibit significant nonlinearity (an increase in R² by 18%). NMDS (Stress = 0.016) demonstrated an advantage over linear methods in preserving ecological space topology under extreme moisture values.

It was proved that moisture acts as a nonlinear “ecological filter” limiting the development of competitive species (C) and promo-ting the dominance of stress-tolerant species (S) on both poles of the hydrological gradient.

Keywords: pine forests, CSR strategies, Ellenberg indicator scales, NMDS, nonlinear analysis, ecological ordination.
